FAQ

Postby riatin on Sat Nov 26, 2011 2:00 pm

I saw the NDA had been lifted so here's a bit of an FAQ for 1-16-ish levels. I know there are a few that have played to higher, so if you want to add stuff, I'll drop it in the main post.

General

How many characters do you get?
It looks like you can have 8 character per server.

What is the Maximum level?
Level 50

How many classes are there to pick from?
There are 4 main classes, each with 2 subclasses. (Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor, Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent)

Which races are available?
Human, Human Cyborg, Zabrack, Rattataki, Chiss, and Sith Trueblood (Sith Trueblood cannot take the Inquisitor class due to its storyline)

Are there specific race/class combinations that are better than others?
It seems that there are no race/class combinations that are better than anothers.

What Classes start on which planets?
Sith Inquisitor and Sith Warrior start on Korriban, the Bounty Hunter and Imperial Agent start on Nal Hutta.

How early can you planet hop?
From what I saw, 10th level is the earliest you can move from one planet to the next. It's built into the storyline.

What is an advanced class?
An advanced class is a subclass of your main class, it determines what roles you have access to. Sith Warrior for example has Juggernaut and Marauder, the Juggernaut is tank/dps, while the Marauder is simply dps.

What level can you pick your advanced class?
You can pick your AC (advanced class) at level 10. It is determined by you class quest line and so could be later.

When do you get talent points?
You also get your first talent points at level 10.

When you can you train professions?
Level 10.

When do you get your starship?
It goes along with your quest line, but around level 15.

When do you get a vehicle?
You get a Sprint ability at level 14, Vehicles are at 25. You have to learn the skill to drive them at your trainer. 40K Credits. Then you have to buy a vehicle. My fuzzy memory is kicking in but it's 5 to 8K for your choice. Different appearances but same speed (90% faster than run speed). On both Rep and Imp I got them on Tatooine. (Thanks to Ginny)

When do you get a companion?
Level 8 or so, it again depends on your class quest.

Groups and Instances

How do you invite someone to a group?
Type "/invite riatin" to invite riatin to your group

How do you leave a group?
The easiest way I've found is to right click your portrait, click Groups, then Exit Group.

What is the maximum group size?
4 people or combination of toons+Companions

Does ToR use a "Tank/Healer/Dps" setup for Instances?
Yes

What are instances and raids called?
Instances are called Flashpoints, raids are called Operations.

What is the first available Flashpoint(instance)?
The first flashpoint is The Black Talon(BT) and you find it on the Imperial spacestation on your way to Dormund Kaas.

Do you need a tank and healer for BT?
Yes, while trash can be taken out with ease, a tank and healer are generally needed for the bosses.

Which classes can be Tanks?
The classes with tank subclasses are:
Sith Warrior (Juggernaut)
Sith Inquisitor (Assassin)
Bounty Hunter (Power Tech)

Which classes can be Healers?
The classes with healer subclasses are:
Sith Inquisitor (Sorcerer)
Bounty Hunter (Mercenary)
Imperial Agent (Operative)

Which Classes can be DPS?
To a degree all classes can dps, the bounty hunters make a good dps class regardless of subclass, but dps only options are as follows:
Imperial Agent (Sniper)
Sith Warrior (Marauder)

What do the silver, gold, and gold with silver icons beside an NPC's name mean?
Its a ranking of difficulty, if you are in a solo zone, silver means difficult, gold means hard, and the silver/gold means elite. If you are in a heroic zone, then this represents the same difficulty, but for a group.

What is a Heroic Zone?
This is an area that has monsters and quests meant for groups.

How do I get invited to the guild once I’m in the game?
Once Early Game Access begins, the first character you create on the assigned server will be automatically invited to join your guild. You can choose to accept or decline the invite. If declined, you will be invited again each time you create a character on that server, unless you select the option to ignore future invites.

...more to come.

AC's are storyline dependent, you can't just pick it at level 10, you must open up the AC's through questing. So you may not get it at 10.

I ran all of Tatooine. Puriel gave me 20k credits towards my license, knowing I was about to hit lvl25 but with the costs of buying skills, I could never afford it. I'll probably be the only lvl 50 Juggernaut in the game without a speeder license
